The Florence Light Festival is a huge light festival that lasts for a month each year, running from early in December into the first couple of weeks of January of the following year, and sees some of the city’s most famous and beautiful monuments and buildings illuminated and come to life under light displays. These light displays use video mapping, projections, spectacular light games, art installations, and more at more than 15 locations across the city. Usually included in the exhibition are famous monuments and places like the Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Piazza Santa Maria Novella and the Oltrarno, as well as the towers and the gates of the city and the neighbourhoods outside the historic centre.
