Manfredonia is a name that you may not have heard of before but maybe you should have! It is an incredibly beautiful seaside town located on the eastern coast of Italy, in the comune of Apulia, that has managed to fly under the radar but has lots to offer the discerning visitor. So, if you find a holiday rental in Apulia, come explore and discover its charms for yourself.

Faced by a long stretch of coast, with endless crescent moons of perfect sandy beaches to play on and aquamarine waters to splash in, the town is comprised of an astounding historic core, surrounding by a fascinating sprawl of newer buildings.

With lots to offer visitors by way of sights, restaurants, bars and stores but far from the beaten tourist trail, it is a great spot for the more intrepid traveller looking for something new.
Harbour
The town in pretty and steeped in history and culture, the people are friendly, the prices are hard to beat and the fresh seafood and delicious Apulian wines are incredible!

Founded by Manfred, the king of Sicily, who abandoned the port of the old Siponto in favour of creating this new city in the 13th century, it still bears many reminders of him; in the city's name and in buildings like the beautiful Cathedral and the Swabian-Angevine fortress, both of which were designed according to his vision and are the most distinct landmarks in the cityscape.

However, the roots of the settlement of the area are far more ancient and there is plenty more to see: the National Archaeological Museum (housed in the fortress); the Abbey of San Leonardo, built by Knights Templar; many noble palaces; the lovely Palazzo Comunale; the Church of San Domenico; the little gothic gem that is the Church of San Francesco; and the lively and bustling town harbour.

If you are looking for sun, fun, history and a distinct and beautiful setting, Manfredonia offers all of that and more!
