Spiaggia della Licciola
You can basically hear this image, right? The sound of that perfectly blue water lapping gently against the soft white sand of the shore immediately comes to mind and one is filled with the desire to escape to such a spot. This incredibly beautiful beach is one of many fine stretches of coast on the island of Sardinia but has to be up there amongst the best of the best. Spiaggia della Licciola is a gorgeous beach in Santa Teresa Gallura, a wonderful seaside town that is very special and a must for beach-lovers who have found a vacation rental in Sardinia.

While the town has much in the way of nightlife entertainment, with plenty of bars, nightclubs, live music, and a great jazz festival each August, the town and the surrounding area is really an attractive spot for those who enjoy the great outdoors and immense natural beauty.
The town is spread across two inlets, Porto Longone, where that harbour is, and the bay of Rena Bianca, where you'll find a long stretch of ultra-fine sand and crystalline waters that have garnered the FEE’s Blue Flag of excellence. Above this, overlooking it all, rises the picturesque and historic Longosardo Tower, built for King Philip II of Spain in the 16th century. There are several beaches to enjoy in the area including La Marmorata, La Licciola (mentioned and pictured above), Cala Balcaccia, Santa Reparata, Rena di Ponente, Rena di Levante, Capicciolu (or the “Beach of Auntie Colombo”), Cala Lunga, and Porto Liscia-Sciumara, where the surfing is at its best.

Other great activities offered in the area include trekking and hiking on the headlands of Capo Testa, kitesurfing, stand up paddle-boarding, diving and snorkelling to see the coral and shipwrecks, exploring the nearby La Maddalena islands, visiting archaeological sites and ruins, and taking in the stunning Valley of the Moon (Valle della Luna).

For those in search of wild natural beauty and opportunities to keep active and have adventures while holidaying in Italy, this is as good a spot as any you'll find.
