These Are Even More Of The Most Photogenic Spots In Rome

St Peter's, View
Rome is one of those incredibly beautiful and photogenic cities that people dream of visiting their whole lives. If you have found a vacation rental in Rome and are finally planning a trip, there are lots of places that you should visit. In fact, there are too many...way too many. It would take lifetimes to see it all. As none of us have lifetimes to do anything, try and see as much as you can during your trip and be sure to take lots of photos to remember it all by and to have more time to take it all in afterwards!

5. St Peter's Views And Square

Pope Alexander VII and Bernini undertook the designing of St Peter's Square, one of the many alterations that was part of the Pope's master plan for the modernisation of the city.
St Peter's
Located in front of St Peter's Basilica, he wanted this open space to be laid out so that the maximum number of worshippers would be able to see him giving his blessings from the church or adjacent Papal apartments. Furthermore, there needed to be a grand entrance to the hallowed buildings on the square and the result of their collaborative project is one of the most beautiful and grandest piazzas in the world. It is one of those spaces that really needs to be experienced in order to be understood.

However, it is not just the piazza of St Peter's that is a must-visit but also the alarmingly massive basilica and, in particular, the top of it. Enter, follow the sign that reads “cupola” and then take a staircase and elevator up to the famous dome of the church and when you get to the top: a spectacular 360º view of St Peter’s Square and the city of Rome. One of the best views in the city, it is begging to be recorded!
Villa Borghese Garden
6. The Lovely Gardens of Villa Borghese

The complex of Villa Borghese is home to a landscape garden in the naturalistic English manner and a number of buildings and museums, including the excellent Galleria Borghese. While we recommend checking out the museums and other attractions on site, make sure to find time to explore (and photograph) the grounds! It is the third largest public park in Rome and dates back to the 17th century but was remade as it is today in the early nineteenth century. A particularly photogenic highlight is the 18th century "Temple of Aesculapius", which is located on the edge of a lovely pond and was built purely as a landscape feature, influenced by the lake at Stourhead in Wiltshire, England.

Of course, a city as big, old and rich as Rome has much more to offer and to be photographed, so be sure to read on to the previous and next articles in this series for more sights that need to be taken in with your own eyes!
