The Brenta Dolomites, or “Dolomiti di Brenta”, is the part of the Dolomite range which lies to the westernmost extremity of the region. The range is about 40km in length as it runs from north to south and about 12 km wide east to west. It is rather different from the more eastern Dolomite groups, made up of slender lines and a greater plasticity of forms. However, all of the Dolomite range is particularly stunning, with deep valleys, extremely high peaks, dramatically craggy rock formations and pretty towns and huts perched at random in a very picturesque fashion. This is surely why it became a UNESCO Heritage Site in 2009.

So, if you're after the ideal hiking holiday in Italy, find a holiday rental in Venice nearby and take a day or two out to go hiking in the Dolomites – it will be an unforgettable experience and enhance your trip!
The Bocca di Brenta pass, in particular, is an understandably popular area in the Brenta Dolomites. This narrow pass crosses east-west and is outlined as one of the best in the area by the famous Cicerone guide to the area, “Walking in The Dolomites.” One of the nice things about this particular walk, as well, is that there are two different route options available depending on your experience and ability.

The two different options include both a tough-hike option (which takes some 8 hours, and requires experience, helmets, crampons and equipment) and a much more public-friendly easy-hike option (which, by contrast, is just a mere 2 miles long and about an hour’s walk).
It’s at some 8,330 feet, so make sure that you have come prepared for the elevation but the second option should be no problem for most people as it is considerably shorter. However, it still gives you a nice taster and a wonderful experience of the Dolomites. It offers a chance to take in some of the stunning views without all the sweating!
Perhaps something to consider to try and compensate for all of the indulging in delicious food that is sure to happen while on holidays in Italy, hiking the Dolomites rewards you beyond imaging and really has to be experienced to be understood.
