Sail Around La Maddalena Islands

la maddalena islands
The La Maddalena archipelago is a group of beautiful islands located off the north eastern region and island of Sardinia. It consists of seven main islands which are decorated with some pretty little islets. The largest is called Maddalena and has a town of the same name located on it.

Stay on the stunning island and region of Sardinia in a gorgeous holiday villa where you can easily travel to the La Maddalena islands for a glorious day of sightseeing!

The other six islands are called Caprera, Santo Stefano, Spargi, Razzoli, Santa Maria and Budelli. Only three of these; Maddalena, Caprera and Santo Stefano, are inhabited. Evidence of humans living on some of these islands during the Prehistoric age has been discovered and is available for tourists to learn more about when they come and see for themselves.

These islands are a wildlife haven. In fact, an extensive national nature reserve has been set up and includes the land of over sixty isles in the La Maddalena archipelago! The stunning views, crystal clear waters and rich marine that surround these islands allow for many exhilarating water sports.

Go snorkelling around the rigged coastline of Caprera or deep sea diving off the shores of Santa Maria Island! There are many secluded beaches, gorges and caves to be explored throughout the archipelago, so what are you waiting for! Go on a boat tour of the entire archipelago and hopefully get an opportunity to see a passing seal or dolphin!

There are frequent ferries around all these exciting spots, especially between Maddalena Island and Palau town on the North east of Sardinia.

Walk across the bridge linking the neighbouring islands of Maddalena and Caprera and be sure to sail over to see the most famous beach in Italy, the Spiaggia Rosa or pink beach!

You can look but not touch as this famous attraction is not the blushing pink colour it once was because tourists kept taking away samples of it as souvenirs. Since 1993 the local council had to put a stop to people setting foot on the beach at all.

Why not find out about other superb islands around the coast of Italy which could inspired a thrilling island hopping themed holiday!
