Veneto is well known for Venice, but the region itself is a true adventure to explore. It is one of the regions in Italy that is rich in historical, natural, musical, cultural and culinary heritages.
Renting a villa near some of the small cities and villages of Veneto is like living in medieval fairytale. With castles, town walls and fortresses intact it is unbelievable to behold and definitely a holiday that you would remember.

The town of Monselice for example, has much associated with it and the spectacular surroundings are somewhat relaxing as well as being awe inspiring.
The area itself is believed to have been settled since the bronze age making this a very old town. It is rich in history with roman conquests and mythology abundant in the tales of old and you can see many of the historical attractions including the medieval Torre Civica and the Castle of Monselice (Castello Cini).

One of the favourites however would possible be Montagnana. The town’s medieval walls are one of the best preserved examples of medieval walls in Europe and the photos really do not do them justice at all. They are a truly impressive sight to behold, along with the Castle of San Zeno, The Gothic Cathedral and even the Town Hall itself.

Another town that it would be a sin not to visit is Arqua Petrarca, the last place that the poet Petrarch lived. There is a museum dedicated to him here and also you can see his house and even visit his actual tomb. The town itself has much more to see and you could easily spend hours wandering around taking in all the history and scenery.

However it is not just for the fantastic scenery and impressive architecture that Veneto is famous as it also produces some of the most fantastic wines. In fact, possibly one of the most renowned things in Veneto is the Prosecco di Valdobbiadene. Prosecco is a sparkling white wine and where better to taste it then the picturesque wine growing area of Valodobbiadene? You can find it in almost any restaurant or even take a tour of a winery!
