And these are no ordinary city walls, they have been redesigned as an attraction all to itself with parks along the top so you can stroll or take a bike ride around the city from atop the walls that used to protect it from invading armies.
Lucca has much more than city walls for you to discover during your vacation, but if you want to spread your time around it is also located where you can visit many other cities and towns around the area easily.

"La Sorgente was paradise in Tuscany| The Villa was very clean and comfortable. Our party of 10 loved all the little sitting areas which meant we had space to ourselves when we needed it. The pool was clean and in a lovely area to sit. The views from the house were stunning and the garden was lovely. We booked Morena for 3 meals which were excellent. La Sorgente is a larger villa, perfect for multiple families traveling together, with six bedrooms and six bathrooms sleeping a total of twelve guests. The villa itself is situated among olive groves between Lucca and the Versilia coast, with gorgeous views all around. The house was restored with great care from a former olive mill and barn, with the end result being a lovingly restored stone building with as many traditional materials as available, giving it a character all its own. Inside the villa, the rooms are decorated in an elegant yet country style with tasteful furniture. Well kept gardens and a gorgeous terrace offer the guests many places to sit and enjoy the outdoors and the scenery all around you.
"La Sorgente is a wonderful property in a beautiful setting. We really enjoyed our time. Our party of eight adults found that there was plenty of space for everyone, so no one felt crowded. It made a great base to explore Tuscany. I am extremely happy that we chose this property. We hired Morena to cook for us for two nights while we were there. She is a wonderful cook and great lady. The meals were superb!"

There is a master bedroom, three twin bedrooms, and two double bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms. La Sorgente also has a sitting room with a fireplace that also opens to the terrace on the first floor. The ground floor has an entrance hall, another sitting room with fireplace, and a large kitchen / dining room that opens onto the terrace with pergola. This terrace has to be seen to be believed, and you will most likely eat all your meals out here with the view it offers. La Sorgente sits only 5 km from San Martino, which has shops, a bank and a post office. Lucca is a mere 18 km away, while the beaches of Versilia are 20km and if you flying into the area Pisa Airport is about 45km away. While you are in the villa maid service is included 4 hours a day for three days a week.
