The beautiful chestnut and cork woods surrounding the property offer an ideal terrain for relaxing walks along the old medieval paths.

This typical country house is part of a small hamlet in the middle of the untouched nature of the "Alta Meremma" nature reserve south of Siena. Its fantastic location above the Farma valley gives wide views of the surrounding woods rustic country house "Il Casale", renovated. 2 km from the centre of Iesa, 12 km from the centre of Monticiano, 30 km from the centre of Siena, in a quiet position on a slope, 20 m from the woods edge. Private: garden with flowers and trees. Arbour, garden furniture, barbecue. In the house: central heating. Motor access (200 m via unmade road). Parking in the grounds. Grocers 2 km, supermarket 12 km, restaurant 2 km, thermal baths 5 km. The River Farma flows about 1 km away - one can bathe in its clear waters. The owner occasionally uses one room in the basement with a separate entrance from the small road.

We restored the Villa with love and care. We tried to keep as much as possible of its fascinating past and we deliberately kept a rustic style adding the necessary modern comforts .

The villa is nestled in the lush and quiet nature of the Val di Merse natural reserve, one of the best preserved of all of central Italy, is only 30 minutes’ drive from the beautiful city of Siena, where the famous 'Palio' is run twice a year and is only 7 km from world famous San Galgano Abbey and Montesiepi Chapel, that preserve the sword in the stone which gave birth to King Arthur’s legend.


In case of exclusive rental other areas can be made available in the Villa: a large well equipped kitchen, a meals room and a large porch (120sqm) communicating with the above and overlooking the garden .

The Villa is surrounded by a large and tended garden: lavender and rosemary bushes and oak trees are plentiful. The garden offers several areas for outdoor eating and relaxation.

The private ecological swimming-pool measures 11x6 meters has sea-like water, particularly suitable for children and people with allergies .
Around the pool there is a number of sunbeds and deckchairs available and outdoor eating is possible under the gazebo and the pergolas.

Villa Podernovo enjoys lots of privacy, yet the closeby village offers most facilities . There are local, affordable restaurants serving traditional earthy Tuscan cuisine, a small wine shop, a pharmacy, the post office and two Banks with cash machines.

At Office hours Guests have free use of high speed internet connection and all local information is available.
A small shop offers local organic products including exquisite wines produced at a family winery that successfully applies musictherapy principles to the vineyards as well as oil, honey and fine textiles .
At the entrance there is covered parking for 6 vehicles.

Our surroundings offer many attractions. All Tuscany major art cities are a daily outings , there are plenty opportunities for trekking on foot, horseback and mountain bike. There are several spas and golf courses within 70 Km and the white sandy beaches of the Maremma coast are only 60 minutes’drive away .

We are open all year except during January 15th to March 15th.
